Spencer and Henry look ready, Witten maybe not

The defense has been missing the pass rushing skills of Anthony Spencer for most of the season, but it finally looks like he's ready to go once again, read here.

OLB Anthony Spencer, who missed the last couple games with a hamstring injury, participated fully in today's practice. Wade Phillips plans on letting Spencer loose against the Giants.

Spencer, last season's first-round pick, has been impressive between nursing injuries this year. Phillips points out that Spencer made three tackles and had a QB pressure while playing six defensive snaps before coming up lame against the Cardinals. He also looked great in Oxnard, only to suffer a knee injury that eventually required surgery in the preseason opener.

"They couldn't block him," Phillips said. "He just had a tremendous training camp. He looked so good, but he's just been hampered by injuries. I just think he's to the point where people have trouble blocking him."

Get him on the field and let him go get Eli Manning! We could use a nice sack and a fumble which is returned for a TD. That happening would help because right now I am not confident at all that the offense can put up enough points to win this game.

It also looks like Anthony Henry will be starting on Sunday as well, read here.

Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said Anthony Henry will start against the Giants.

Henry suffered a torn quad muscle against the Bucs.

I don't know if this is such a good idea. How many times have seen this guy trying to play thru a leg injury and he winds up hobbling around on the field where is so ineffective he's actually hurting the team.

This guy has to be gone next season because he's nothing but an injury waiting to happen, plus he isn't a good player anymore. If he does stay then he needs to play Free Safety full time in 2009.

It is starting to look like Jason Witten isn't going to play on Sunday, read here.

Tight end Jason Witten says the pain in his cracked rib is feeling a little better each day, but he expects to be a game-time decision Sunday against the Giants. He isn't practicing again today.

“I am optimistic about it, but I think at some point I’m going to have to do something in practice here,” he said.

Witten emphasized the guys behind him, Tony Curtis and rookie Martellus Bennett, will have to step up if he doesn’t play, which appears to be a strong possibility at this point.

Time for Martellus to prove his worth as a 2nd round draft pick. I have faith that the youngster can catch a few passes, but I am worried about him having to run block and making sure he picks up the Giants crazy blitzing schemes. Get your mind right Martellus!!!
