Of course we're not done talking Pacman just yet

Here's a few pieces from around the internets this morning.

JJT isn't being very nice to Pacman, read here.

Whether he was involved in a fight, a skirmish or horseplay, any doubt about whether Jones is a fool has been removed.

He must be.

There's no other rational explanation for why Jones would put his career in jeopardy. After all, he has been told by commissioner Roger Goodell that any involvement in another off-field incident that brings shame to himself or the league could result in a lifetime ban.

How stupid can you be? We're talking about a guy who served a one-year suspension and didn't get reinstated until last month.

Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.
I can't say I don't agree with JJT. Pacman hasn't proven to any of us that he's a smart man no matter how many times Jerry Jones tries to tell us he is.

Randy Galloway is taking this opportunity to continue to try and make Jerry look like a fool, read here.

Pac-Rat has spent the last couple of months making a fool out of Jerry. By noon on Thursday, Jerry proved again he could do that on his own.

Being hissed off is one thing. The hip pocket is another. Be advised not to read this while driving any motorized vehicle, but Jerry sided with his hip pocket. Remember to steer left when fish-tailing.

Jerry’s internal investigation team at Valley Ranch dug deep to discover that the Tuesday night incident at an upscale Dallas hotel was merely a bunch of "kidding around" and "playfulness," or as Jerry would describe it later Thursday, they were "jivin.’ " (I don’t want to make this a racial thing, but isn’t Jerry too old, too white and too rich to ever say "jivin’ "?)

And about that "internal investigation team." I’m still running down information on this, but early indications say these guys were on loan from the Pentagon, after not having steady work since that weapons of mass destruction report from Iraq.

I think Jerry is still just doing whatever he can to try and make sure this season doesn't go down in flames. We all know he doesn't really buy Pacman's BS story, but he has to do whatever he can to keep the guy on the field for the rest of the season.

Mac Engel makes the most important point in all of this nonsense, read here.

Despite walking on a high wire of skepticism and overdrawn from his benefit-of-the-doubt account, Adam "Pacman" Jones might escape his latest incident with not much more than a rough couple of days of bad publicity and another mark on his rap sheet.

Because there is no formal charge against Jones after his incident Tuesday night at a Dallas hotel, it might provide the out Jones and the Dallas Cowboys need to avoid his suspension by the NFL.

Maybe, but I am not so sure. If Goodell digs deep enough and he finds out that the bodyguard was just trying to do his job and Pacman was drinking then I would say it's 50-50 whether he is suspended or not.

Calvin Watkins tells us he has some new details on the incidents, read here.

The incident was over when police arrived. Hotel employees said they had overheard a scuffle in the men's restroom. Police believe an assault had occurred.

Hotel management said a glass light switch plate was broken but said everything was fine. The hotel bill was paid.

The police report said Adam Jones hit Tommy Jones in the bathroom, and it appeared Adam Jones had been drinking alcohol. When Tommy Jones declined to press charges, the police ended their investigation.

Adam Jones and three teammates were at the hotel's nightclub, PM, attending a private event for the rapper Ludacris, who was in town promoting a movie and his new album.

When the party was over, Adam Jones and a small group moved to the lobby area, where problems arose.

A Dallas police officer who asked that his name not be published told WFAA-TV he was at the scene during the incident.

"At first I thought he [Adam Jones] and his bodyguard were playing," he said.

The officer said he heard Adam Jones ask his bodyguard, Tommy Jones, "Why are you following me?" The officer said he then heard what sounded like a mirror shattering.

The officer said the men were separated and said, "It was no big deal."

James Shepherd, who owns several record stores in Texas and Oklahoma, said he was invited to the party by Ludacris' record label. Shepherd said he witnessed Adam Jones yelling at his girlfriend inside the men's bathroom of the hotel.

"As soon as I opened the door, I saw him arguing with a female," said Shepherd, a Grand Prairie resident. "One of the people from the hotel grabbed me from the back and pulled me away. He was yelling at her and he had his finger all in her face."

Do we believe the witnesses? Doesn't matter if we do or not. What matters is that if Roger Goodell has these same witness statements in his investigation then it could lead to a suspension.

Mickey Spagnola has his story on the situation, read here.

And because of this, whether this was a serious incident or merely two guys getting in each other's face a little too closely, Pacman and the Cowboys now realize, as if they hadn't already, there is little wiggle room with any misbehaving and their fate rests in the hands of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

That the NFL security department is expected to wrap up its investigation of exactly what took place around 11 p.m. Tuesday, already having met face to face with Pacman on Thursday at The Ranch, there will be some restless nights waiting on a decision, likely early next week from the commissioner - who by the way was here Wednesday to address the team but not knowing at the time just what had gone down the night before.

And while Jerry Jones said, following the club's in-house investigation, no punishment would be handed down to Pacman - no fine or suspension - that Pacman's and the Cowboys' fate rests in someone else's hands (Goodell) highlights the uneasiness permeating through The Ranch.

"I've been very clear with him about the fact that it cannot reflect poorly on himself, the team or the NFL and that there were certain things that I expected of him," Goodell said in a national radio interview on Thursday about Pacman's expected behavior following his late August reinstatement. "And I think he clearly understands that. I guess I would tell you that I'm disappointed that we're even discussing this at this point in time."

Not good.

Exactly Mick. Now we wait.
