Skins 26, Cowboys 24: There are a few places to place the blame

Did the Cowboys win big like I predicted? lol.

Watch this and then we will get into it...

There are so many people and places I want to blame, but I am only going to pick the top five as I see it.

1. Want. In any sport sometimes it comes down to just wanting it more than the other team and for whatever reason the Skins wanted to win this game more than the Cowboys.

How do I know this? Because they blocked and tackled better and that's all about effort folks.

2. Gameplan. I don't know what the offensive gameplan was going into this thing, but when you completely abandon the running game and force Tony Romo to throw up 47 passes you are begging to lose. This one game really made me think to myself. "Is Jason Garrett ready to be an NFL head coach?".

He paniced when the running game was being stuffed early on and this is a fact. When the game was tied early in the third quarter I assumed the Cowboys offense would go back to trying to get the running game going. But the Skins came back down the field quickly, thanks to Terence Newman having a dreadful day, and put up a FG to go back ahead 20-17.

From there it was like Garrett was calling this game as if the Cowboys were down 21 points. Why?

And not getting Felix Jones any carries or receptions in this game is just pathetic.

3. This defense isn't tough enough. For some time now us fans have waited for this defense, which is chop full of 1st rounders, to finally come together and become a tough, hard nosed, get the job done no matter what it takes unit. After watching Clinton Portis run the football down their throats in the fourth quarter I can safely say that this defense is still not an elite unit and I can't see a time in the near future where they will become one.

Greg Ellis is useless on the field unless he's rushing the passer. All these supposedly good CB's, yet this team doesn't have one INT on the season. The tackling is very poor at times and especially on QB's in the pocket. Marcus Spears is just a guy and should not be starting any longer.

4. Stop forcing the ball to Terrell Owens. There isn't much to say here except that I am starting to see Romo trying to get him the football on some occasions where he should be throwing the football elsewhere.

5. Wade needs to stop being soing 'cute'. He has so many defensive packages that it finally cost us something. I can understand the idea that you want to put guys into position to succeed, but when you start worrying so much about what some guys can't do and you start trying to be 'cute' by over scheming the opponent the players minds get a little frazzled.

What happened to having a few guys who came in and out and played defense? Wade has so many packages that he has almost 20 players in the regular rotation of playing in all these defenses. I am surprised that yesterday was the first time we saw 12 guys on the field in a mix up.

And I am not excusing Pat Watkins here either. He screwed up and he knows it.

Last night I was downright pissed off.

Today I am a little more calm and I do understand that the season is very young. This is a very good football team that will make the playoffs. But you can't just ignore the fact that getting your ass handed to you at home by one of your most hated division rivals isn't very disappointing.

Let's hope I am as calm this afternoon on DCFanatic Radio at 3pm est.
