Why are Bradie's comments even making noise?

Why is a quote from an article that came out on August 12th is making a little noise to me on August 18th is something I don't understand, read here.

I wasn't quite sure what to make of the quote, so I asked James to elaborate/clarify.

"We can't be those guys. We have to be ourselves," James said. "We have to find a way to make it work and embody the whole team concept, being the Dallas Cowboys and not how they did it out there in New England.

"As long as we kick the egos out the door and come together as a team, we'll be fine. We have enough names to really do whatever it is we need to do, but there's a flip side to that. You've got enough names to take us to the next level, and you've got enough names to tear this thing down.

"Like I've been saying, the only name that really counts is the Dallas Cowboys. If we can embody that and come together, we'll be fine. "

Here's what Bradie James said in the article with Tom Curran from NBC Sports, read here.

The roster has a combustible mix of talent and ego.

"We have a lot of names. We have a lot of egos," admits linebacker Bradie James. "One thing that we have done is (try) to put those things aside. When you have a lot of names on the defensive side of the ball or the offensive side of the ball – everywhere, really – the only name that matters is the Dallas Cowboys. If we can get all that pride and ego out the door and come together as one, we can be a force. There are so many things are going on, there is so much potential for distractions, in order for us to be where we want to be, we have to set aside those things."

The Cowboys, James says, will not pretend to be something they are not.

"We can’t be the Patriots," he allows. "The Patriots, they epitomize the whole team concept. Those guys are all about team and that's it. We're not them. We are a team that has a bunch of names, a bunch of personalities and a bunch of youth. We are learning what it takes to win at the right time."

Here's what I take from the comments.

The Cowboys have guys who are more recognizable to the common people than the Patriots do.

The guy next door who doesn't watch football religiously only knows two players from the Patriots: Tom Brady and Randy Moss.

The Cowboys have Tony Romo, Terrell Owens, Tank Johnson, Roy Williams, Jason Witten, Pacman Jones, etc. Plus Jerry Jones is the most recognizable sports owner in the world.

I think what Bradie is saying is that it's going to be a little more difficult to get all these big names under the umbrella that is the Dallas Cowboys like the Pats do with their players.

Now the question is asked. Does this mean the Cowboys will be able to win a championship with all these ego's on one team?

The Patriots weren't able to do it with their format. And it's yet to be determined if the Cowboys can in 2008.
