Miles Austin gone 4-6 weeks with MCL sprain

Wade Phillips confirmed today that Miles Austin will be gone 4-6 weeks with the MCL Sprain, read here.

Austin sprained the medial collateral ligament in his right knee on a kickoff Saturday against the Broncos. He had just caught a 5-yard touchdown pass. Austin could return before the game at Green Bay on Sept. 21.

He's had a tremendous camp this year," backup quarterback Brad Johnson said. "You hate to see him get injured. He's really improved and [it's been] fun to watch him make plays."

Damn it. This kid finally shows some consistency by showing up two weeks in a row and right after catching a TD pass he goes down for six weeks.

This opens the door for some guys to 'steal' a spot on the roster.

Austin was also a big part of special teams so now someone has to play gunner in his place and that's where guys who are on the bubble like Danny Amendola, Mike Jefferson, Alan Ball, Dowayne Davis can make their way onto the team.
