Knowing Wade Phillips and knowing he's a little goofy from time to time I don't think there is anyway people can't see that his recent comment were made in a 'tongue in cheek' manner.

What comment? The one where he told everyone to 'get the ring finger ready', read here.

In front of a large group of high school and youth football coaches, Dallas Cowboys coach Wade Phillips spoke with unbridled optimism about the upcoming season and even said, "Get the ring finger ready."

He was playing to the crowd, of course, but, less than a week away from starting his second training camp as Cowboys coach, Phillips sounds thrilled to be returning to full-time practice.

Whoa. The problem is that when you read that in print you may not understand that Wade was just being a bit goofy. So it's slowly gaining steam and I bet at some point Wade is going to get a question or two about the comments when Training Camp begins.

That line from Mac about which finger would be ready when December rolls around was classic.

Wade should know better and he will now need to take the heat that comes when you make comments like that.

Who knows, maybe this all ends with Wade and Jerry standing on some podium in Tampa once again telling his team to get the ring finger ready.
