Mickey Spagnola: "(Roy Williams) should be ashamed of himself"

Wow. Mickey Spagnola usually doesn't go overboard when it comes to dishing out the criticism, but I think Mick saw Roy trying to dis the Cowboys fans as the something that deserved a good tongue lashing. Mickey made his weekly appearance on David Smoak's show today at KTBB.com, here's the Roy portion of the interview..

Spags talks Roy Williams

You guys can check out the entire interview with Roy by clicking the link under 'Cowboys Audio'.

Good for Mick. I think if there is any writer that can be considered a 'homer' some of the time because he's usually very positive it's Spagnola. But I think his take on Roy is dead on.

Here's Mickey's latest article from DC.com as well, read here.

But after six years in the league and with that fine University of Oklahoma education - OK, sorry, I really am trying - did you really say the other day, "I'm tired of worrying about the fans. The fans are only around you when things are good. I want supporters."

That I did not paraphrase. That is his direct quote from Sunday's Dallas Morning News.

So you mean all those people out there who annually stuff the Pro Bowl ballot boxes with votes, the ones probably much more responsible for your final two Pro Bowl selections than anyone or anything else? You mean the ones who have bought all those No. 31 jerseys, and many of them hopping mad now that you are switching to No. 38 this season after all these years?

Seriously?

You mean those same people who loyally stuck up for you a couple of years ago when I wrote there was no way you could become a linebacker in the NFL or that they all needed to quit making excuses for your declining and uninspired play? Those people?

As goes the one-word commercial that cracks me up every time, Dude.

I could not agree more with Mickey in everything he states in the audio and in the article. It's time for Roy to put up or shut up!
