Greg Ellis and Norm Hitzges talk more Roy Williams
Roy Williams! He's the hot topic right now and there is definitely a battle going on amongst Cowboys Nation about him. Some want him gone because they are sick of waiting for him to 'come around' and some are still hoping, wishing and praying that he can find his game once again.
If you find some fans who still think he's one of the best Safeties in the league then you should quickly get them their meds because they are clearly off them.
Greg Ellis decided to go on The Michael Irvin Show today to try to clear up his thoughts on Roy, here's some of the interview..
Ellis on Irvin Show
Listen, I wanted to see Roy Williams find his way back to being that guy who used to help the Cowboys win games. But the only thing I took from Ellis' comments were that he isn't sure if Roy has lost his confidence.
I think it's obvious Roy has lost his confidence and I think Wade Phillips and Brian Stewart are well aware of this fact also. The first clear sign that Roy has lost his 'mojo' was when he decided to change his uniform number. He chose the number 38 because it was his old college number and he also said it was because the #8 is a symbol of Resurrection. When a player, who is only going into his 7th season, wants to resurrect his career by changing his number that's a clear sign something is very wrong.
So how can he get it back? Or better yet, can he get it back? If he starts off the 2008 season with a few big hits and some dynamic plays then I give him a 50-50 chance.
Has Roy lost his will to be an elite player? No one can answer that but Roy himself.
Is he just a bad fit in Wade's defense? Any player who is playing with no confidence is going to be a bad fit in any defense if you ask me.

Now for Norm Hitzges. Norm took on the task of looking at Roy as a piece of the puzzle and also in the terms of how Roy affects the team in business terms..
Norm Talks Roy Williams
Very fair talk from Norm and I am glad he laid it out without trying to bash Williams, we fans do enough of that.
The point Norm makes and which I have made a few times is that if Roy becomes a two down Safety then he can't possibly stay in Dallas with his current contract. And I doubt Roy would want to stay if that becomes his role this season.
What about a trade? If Jerry trades him in some package for a WR before the 2008 season begins I would not be shocked whatsoever. It's very hard to get back in the good graces of Cowboys Nation after falling so far. Roy has already come out against the media and now he just threw a jab at the fans last weekend.
Maybe a change of scenery would be good for both parties, you never know.
