Cowboys grab a few rookie free agents

The Cowboys will be signing a bunch of Free Agent Rookie over the next few days and they already grabbed two guys late tonight, read here and read here.

The Cowboys didn't draft a receiver, but they have added at least one through college free agency - Texas Tech's Danny Amendola. He had 109 catches for 1,245 yards and six touchdowns for the Red Raiders in 2007. The Cowboys would really like to see Amendola develop into another Tech receiver, Wes Welker, who lit it up last year in New England. They have similar builds - Amendola is 5-10, 183, Welker is 5-8, 185 - and excelled as slot receivers in Mike Leach's offense.

The Cowboys signed Hampton defensive end Marcus Dixon to a three-year deal as an undrafted free agent. Dixon spent 15 months in prison for aggravated child molestation and statutory rape before the Georgia Supreme Court ordered his immediate release in 2004. Dixon, 6-4, 295, was a three-year captain at Hampton and was on the Dean's list. He finished his senior year with six sacks.

Danny Amendola is going to have a tough time cracking this group of WR's, but he does look pretty good in this video..

Marcus Dixon has a national story behind him that many should remember from a few years back, read here. He then went on to a nice career at Hampton..

Both of these guys will get a shot at making this club, but as we all know it's a touch task to make an NFL club as a rookie free agent.
