Well the first two rounds are now over...
How do I begin here? I am ok. I think we addressed the needs at RB and CB. I was actually happy about that and was waiting to see how the second round went.
Why did the Cowboys trade a TE so they could draft another TE in the 2nd round today? I cannot for the life of me understand that thinking. The word is that Tony Curtis was going to beat out Anthony Fasano this season. So then I can understand trying to get value for Fasano in the trade with the Dolphins. But then to use a 2nd round pick today on another TE, no matter how good he may be, just makes no sense to me. You are either ok with Tony Curtis or you aren't.
Back to the first round. I can see Jerry Jones was high on Felix Jones and thinks he can be a home run hitter in this offense. But his explanation about moving back up to get Jenkins didn't really jive with me. He said he knew the Chargers were going to get a CB so he had to move up to get him.
So why not just take Jenkins at #22 then? Then you knew Mendenhall and Jones were still there and you could have still moved back into the #25 spot for either of them. If they were both gone then you could find another RB somewhere in the draft.
The other question is why Jones over Mendenhall? I would say just about 95% of the lists from experts I have seen have Mendenhall rated higher than Felix Jones. You will get the same figures when asking fans who they would choose if it came down to Jones or Mendenhall.
Let me be calm here. I think Jones is a dynamic player who will really make some exciting plays for this team, but I am not sure he can be a lead back if MBIII goes down to injury or he can't work out his contract situation. Jones can also be a great contributor on special teams as well so it's not like I hate the pick, just a little curious as to the decision of Jones over Mendenhall. Kinda reminds me of the Julius Jones versus Stephen Jackson debate all over again and we know how that played out.
The second round. That's going to take some time to get over. I think I am going to sleep on it and come back in the morning before I get myself in trouble here.
So I will be back in the morning with some videos and all kinds of good stuff on the day one picks.

Taking Jones over mendenhall was completely asinine, even worse after listening to Jerry and his void of logic explanation of it. Jenkins was a great pick but I don't get drafting a backup tightened that could spend most of his time on the inactive list this year when Caldwell was there for the taking, a speed field stretching receiver Dallas really needs. I give the first day a C- grade, jerry left two better players on the board.
