This does now open up the door for Jerry Jones to draft a Strong Safety sort of early in the draft come April without people saying that the choice is all about replacing Roy Williams.

Here are some candidates I would look at..

Tom Zbikowski, Notre Dame - Toughness. Zibby will bring his hard nosed style to the Cowboys along with his football intelligence. After playing for a terrible Notre Dame defense last season some people think his isn't that talented, but one man does not make a defense people. He would also be an excellent special teamer too because of his work ethic and for his ability to return punts.

Josh Barrett, Arizona State - He was this year's 'workout warrior' at the NFL Combine last month. Most people think he can play both Free and Strong Safety at the next level. His athleticism really makes him a hot commodity so he might be gone before round 3.

Jamar Adams, Michigan - Very smart football player and a leader on the field. He would only be a Strong Safety candidate because he does not have great speed, but he did improve his coverage skills in his senior season at Michigan.
