Anything left for the Cowboys?
About a week into FA the Cowboys have been as quiet as a mouse. Usually Jerry Jones is out there hunting down some guys who can help get the Cowboys over the hump, but this season he has been very content to wait and see what's left after all the over spending is over and done with by his fellow owners.
So are there any players still out on the market that the Cowboys may look into signing?
Here's four guys I could see as 'possible candidates'..
Eugene Wilson, Safety - He is coming from a 3-4 defense in New England and he is a better football player than Keith Davis. The Cowboys don't seem interested in bringing back Davis and I am not sure they are secure in going with just Pat Watkins and Courtney Brown as the backup Safeties. Another thing is that Wilson can probably play either FS or SS if needed and now he should come at a reasonable price.
Brian Kelly, Cornerback - Now that Reeves is officially gone the Cowboys need a 3rd CB even though it's obvious they are looking to use one of the 1st rounders at this position. Kelly is a vet who can come in and play outside CB in the nickel. His price will definitely be reasonable.
Ty Law, Cornerback - At one time he was considered one of the best in the game. That time has passed, but he is still a very smart football player and like I said above the Cowboys need a 3rd CB right now. Law knows his days as a starter are probably over and he would probably be ok with playing backup for a contender.
Warrick Dunn, Running Back - Since he is still not signed by anyone else he has to be mentioned as a possible for the Cowboys. His agent contacted the team and didn't get the 'we want a visit ASAP' response so he has been visiting other teams. It looks like he just wants a shot to finish his career with a Super Bowl contender so maybe he checks around and then tells the Cowboys he will play for pennies and see what they say.
The Cowboys may not bring in anyone before the draft, but there is always the possibility of some fringe guys coming in after the June cuts.
