Flozell caved and Jerry pounced on him
When it became obvious to Flozell Adams and his agent that Jerry Jones was going to allow him to test the market I think Flo knew his bluff was called and he decided to take the Cowboys best offer. Why else would he sign a 6 year deal when we all know there is now way he is playing another 6 years in this league. He could have easily gotten a nice three year deal from someone else with a better annual salary.
Now on the contract. Flo is getting about $15 mil for his salary over the next three seasons and about $13 mil in signing bonus money, read here. Still not sure if this is a bad deal or not because we still don't know what the cap hit is for each year. We do know that the Cowboys just moved Jason Ferguson out in a trade so they could add to the FA money pool in hopes of bringing in a few 'fringe' guys.
All in all I guess it's over and done with now so it is what it is. Flo didn't want to go anywhere and the smart business man that Jerry was he knew the big guy would eventually take what was offered. Now Flo just has to make sure he doesn't come out and put up a false start penalty on the first play of the opener.
