When Tank Johnson was signed there was definitely a possibility that trading Jason Ferguson could be an option this offseason, and now this seems like it may happen, read here.

There are two ways for me to look at this. On one hand I am ok with it because he's probably past his prime and is not really a good pass rush presence like Wade Phillips desires. On the other hand I was hoping that Jay Ratliff would make the move back to DE and replace Marcus Spears in the starting lineup. So in that scenario I saw Fergy and Tank splitting time.

Now there is still a possibility the Cowboys go after a DT in the draft, maybe even with this draft pick they receive in the possible trade, so Ratliff could still be going back to DE.

The best part about this deal is that it frees up about $2.5 mil from the salary cap.

I would definitely put Fergy on the market and see what kind of offers come in for him even if this deal falls apart.
